" We
just wanted to drop you a note and say how much we enjoyed our stay at
your Inn last month. This was our first time staying at a Bed and
Breakfast, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The feeling of
home was there. You made us feel welcome, and those breakfasts were
delicious."

We cannot accommodate children at times when
other guests are bringing a pet or have indicated they are traveling
to get away from family pressures for quality time together.
A
'port-a-crib' is available at no charge, but we have only one so it's
available on a first-come, first served basis.
Pets
are welcome but we don't accept pets when other guests are bringing
children or pets. Please call ahead (540-955-1181) or email your

if you are
considering traveling with your pet. Although

in an unusually soiled or damaged condition. Please keep your dog with
you at all times as we cannot pet sit. Please read:
PLANNING
FOR A SUCCESSFUL TRIP WITH YOUR PET
EVALUATE
YOUR PET
--
Is your pet well socialized, & healthy enough to travel ?
Does
your pet travel well in the car? Start
with short day trips before planning an overnight outing.
Is
your pet’s stamina up to your expectations for the trip?
If your dog is usually inside or in a small yard most of the time,
don’t expect it to enjoy a long hike on a warm summer day with you.
You could risk your pet's health.
Does
your pet adapt quickly to new situations and enjoy meeting other new pets and
people? Does your pet socialize well with children?
Can
your pet tolerate a leash for several hours while you attend an event
together?
Are
your pet’s vaccinations up to date and is your pet protected by flea/tick
medication?
Are
you welcome to bring your pet along?
Confirm
with your host in advance that your pet is welcome to visit.
The backyard is fenced but Berryville enforces a
Municipal leash law.
One other pet is in residence and we only have one guest pet at a time.
Is
pet-sitting available or can your pet remain in the room alone?
Even
well behaved pets become nervous when abandoned in a new environment.
Be considerate of other guests and your host,
by not allowing your dog to scratch at the door, whine or bark.
I do not usually have the spare time to pet sit and prefer you keep
your pet with you.
You are responsible for your pet at all times.
Expect to be charged for pet sitting service or if damage occurs.
Don’t
forget to pack for your pet when you go traveling.
Bring
food and bowls, a friendly smelling blanket or bed, toys, treats and of course
pet water for when you are on the road.
You should bring supplies to clean up your pet’s waste.
If your pet is crate trained, you’ll want to bring the crate as well.
Be
considerate of your host’s accommodations.
Well
mannered pets are welcome to visit again.
Bathe and groom your dog before traveling to reduce shedding.
Do not let your pet damage rugs, bed linens, or upholstery.
On muddy days wipe paws before entering.
If dining with other guests, ask them if it is permissible for your pet
to be in the room while the meal is served.
Pet owners should never allow their pets to destroy garden plantings or
urinate on garden items.

Pet
Friendly Inns
Innkeepers
who do welcome pets tend to have similar guidelines (although exceptions
are frequent). Here are ten of the most common:
1.
Prior approval is essential, so that innkeepers can limit the numbers of
pets in residence, and can interview you to determine if your pet is a
good traveler.
2. Dogs are often the only pets welcomed; some innkeepers accept
only small dogs (under 30 pounds).
3. Only one pet allowed per guest room; some guest rooms are kept
pet-free.
4. A maximum number of pets allowed at the inn at any one time
(usually between one and three).
5. Pets must be leashed when out of the guest room.
6. Pets cannot be left alone in guest rooms, and must be with their
owners at all times.
7. Pets must be washed & on flea medication prior to arrival, with
proof of current rabies vaccinations.
8. Extra cleaning charges range from $10-25 daily.
9. Owners should bring pet bedding and dishes; no pets permitted on the
beds or furniture. Owners are asked to clean up their dog litter in the
yard.
10. Guests must sign a statement, agreeing to adhere to the inn’s
policies, to be responsible for any damage done by the pet, and to
absolve the innkeepers of any liability if the pet is injured.
